A Community Library
In the mountains of Yunnan province in southwestern China live a predominantly Tibetan community. The Step Foundation, a United Nations WTO affiliate and nonprofit organization, began a library for the community by donating an original collection of 3,000 books. The Thank You Small Library now runs on good will from the community and contributions from groups like Compassion Beyond Borders.
The library not only is a place of study for students, it also conducts art, computer and English classes for the community. The Rural Community Library Fund, CBB's partner, intends to assist libraries in other parts of the developing world, as funds become available.
